The Media is Brain Poison. Turn off the News and Trash the Papers

A video that shows us what we can learn from the original "Chicken Little" story from Walt Disney (1947).

I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of the media dishing out negative energy. Brian Wong created this video to hopefully put some positive energy back into our world.

Hope you enjoy it.

What came first, the Leader or the Follower?

The Function of Great Leadership is to create more Leaders, not more Followers.

If you gave 100 people equal opportunities such as training, circumstances and money their outcomes would be completely different. 99 would have varying levels of success; Only 1 of these people would become a great leader. So what makes a great leader?

Every great leader, no matter how successful, at some point was a great follower. It is a natural progression.

Most people think that what makes a great leader is power and influence. While these attributes are necessary and there are so many more, they are simply a result of what made this leader great in the first place: The ability to follow and make decisions.

Great Leaders will take advantage of the opportunities and not squander them away. They follow wise instruction, not balk at it or question it. They make decisions based on Belief: They already know what they want their final outcome to be. Then they stay committed to this outcome, knowing there is always a way to make it happen. .

Great leaders follow because they can make powerful decisions without knowing every step of how they are going to get to the final outcome. They are more interested in creating change than waiting for other to remove the obstacles in their lives.

Let’s say I wanted to partner with you in business. Up front investment is 2 months salary. In addition, you must pay for training that could take anywhere from 2 months to 3 years, maybe longer. At the end of training, I welcome you to my business with a grand ceremony costing thousands and thousands of dollars. I can’t promise you success in your business, you must figure it out on your own. By the way, the commitment to me is 50+ years and if you try to back out It will cost you half of everything you own.

Sound familiar?

When you get married and say your vows, you are essentially making a 50+year commitment. You really have NO CLUE what the next 50 years are going to bring. If part of getting married was a class where someone could show exactly what the next 50 years will bring and the changes that will occur, my guess is there would be less marriages. We don’t stay cute forever. Life changes things.

Marriage can be a gamble. If you choose the wrong partner, invest your time in the wrong activities and do not take the time and effort needed to sustain the marriage, it will fail.

Yet thousands get married every day. They are following belief: tradition and family values, even though the ultimate outcome is unknown.

A decision to go into business is no different. There are many incredible turnkey businesses that are basically a follow the leader game. You make the upfront investment in your future, and then follow a step by step process to build your business. All the systems, training, and products are already in place. The REAL work is already done.

Certainty and Belief drive your behavior. How hard would you work if you knew it would end up in success? Being mentored by a leader that has been there, done that means they already know the ropes, all you have to do is FOLLOW. You benefit from their mistakes. This leverage can catapult you to success.

Now, no one can guarantee your personal success, after all it is up to you. You can be handed the keys to a car, but if you don’t learn to drive it will do you no good. Do what great leaders do and follow other great leaders. They already know what it takes to be successful.

Resources:

In his book The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Follow Them and People Will Follow YouJohn Maxwell presented the idea that leadership can be described as a set of principles that can be learned and applied. When practices align with these principles, leadership is effective.

The term Level 5 Leader comes from Jim Collins, and was first introduced in an article that he wrote for the Harvard Business Review, entitled Level 5 Leadership: The Triumph of Humility and Fierce Resolve. The idea was expanded and fully explained in his book Good to Great

You can read about the concept of a Level 5 Leader on Jim’s website.

SMART Goal Formula. Proven Techniques to Leverage Success

Even Bruce Lee Knows This Formula!

The well-known martial artist and movie star Bruce Lee became supreme exponent of martial arts and was once the master of masters in kung fu.

Through a short but explosive film career he made the world aware of Chinese martial arts and he then became one of the highest paid movie stars in the world. For Bruce Lee to become successful he had to overcome incredible obstacles.

As you know, he had to overcome the obstacles of being the first Chinese movie star in the West. There was a lot of prejudice towards the Chinese so this was a huge challenge…

However, Bruce overcome all the obstacles and he even used his martial arts as a medium to unite the eastern and western culture and bring down the racial barriers at that time.

In Planet Hollywood in New York City, there is a letter hanging on the wall that Bruce Lee wrote to himself many years before he was successful.

The letter is stamped and is dated January 9, 1970. Bruce wrote on this letter clearly what his goal was to be. It said:

Bruce Lee's Handwritten goal"By 1980 I will be the best known oriental movie star in the United States and will have secured $10 million dollars. And in return I will give the very best acting I can possibly give every single time I am in front of the camera and I will live in peace and harmony"

Bruce Lee attained this goal and he became a mega superstar and attained huge wealth well beyond the goal he set.

T
he formula that Bruce Lee used is called “Goal Setting" Many other successful people like Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Napoleon Hill, Donald Trump, Brian Tracy, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Anthony Robbins, have discovered a unique goal setting formula to achieve great success in their lives. What is this unique formula? SMART Goals!

What is a SMART goal?

Smart Goals is goal setting using the acronym S.M.A.R.T. Successful people know the importance of setting specific goals and is one of the most important habits that you should develop. An extremely effective form of goal setting is SMART goals. I have heard of variations for the acronym. Regardless, Smart goals have the following characteristics:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Relevant or also Realistic

Time-bound or also Tangible

Specific

A specific goal is one that contains very specific details about what you are trying to accomplish. Let's look at Bruce Lee's example. For instance, instead of setting a goal like “I want to be a movie star”, he set a smart goal, I will be the best known oriental movie star in the United States".

Measurable

It is also very important that your goal be measurable. Remember the old adage that you can’t manage what you can’t measure. So instead of saying “My goal is to make money”, he said “secure 10 million dollars”. That is a specific and measurable goal.

Achievable

Your smart goal should be challenging and yet achievable. Don’t set yourself up for failure. You can always make the goal more challenging once you achieve your original goal, but don’t sign up to do something that you know you cannot do. This will only lead to disappointments and will negatively impact your self-esteem. So instead of saying “I will be a movie start by the end of the month”, Bruce gave himself 10 years. He wrote out his goal in 1970. His goal date - 1980.

Relevant

Your smart goal needs to be relevant to your objectives. If your goal doesn’t move you closer to what you want to achieve, then there is no point in setting the goal. In Bruce's example he didn't state by being the best martial artist in the world he will become a great star. Bruce Lee stated " I will give the very best acting I can possibly give every single time I am in front of the camera" This is relevant to his desired outcome.

Time-Bound

Last, but not least, your goal needs to be time-bound. You must give yourself a deadline for achieving your goal. So, the examples given above, Bruce clearly stated "By 1980". In your goal, add the word ‘by’, followed by the specific time, day, month or year when you will achieve your goal. A great 7 step goal setting system teaches you how to set and achieve a goal.

Remember to keep the goal challenging but achievable, so don’t give yourself a deadline that you know you cannot achieve.

These are the five components of SMART goals. Write down your SMART goals and look at them on a regular basis. One of the best ways to do this is the use of goal cards. Simple business size cards you can keep in your pocket or on your desk to easily remind you of your goals. Do not establish more than 10 goals at a time. As you achieve your goals, mark them as complete and add new ones.

If you do a good job establishing SMART goals as suggested above and follow through on working towards achieving your goals you will be on your way to success.

Are you good at setting goals but not so good at following through?
Here is a fun solution that utilizes software and worksheets to keep you on track.

15 Steps to a More Productive Workday

Working from home seems like an incredible opportunity, however it poses its own set of challenges. Those that have home offices or businesses often face the challenge of getting the most productivity out of their time and achieving maximum efficiency. While this can be a struggle for anyone in a more “typical” job, a home office has added distractions, unique challenges, and no one to hold them accountable. To run a successful home office, you’ll have to place a priority on productivity and find ways that work for you.

Each of us is unique and no process will work for everyone, but all of us have plenty of things that we can do to improve our workflow. In this article I’ll cover some of the lessons that I have learned through my own experience. For me, productivity is a constant goal. I'm always interested in finding new ways to get more out of my time. I’m far from perfect in these areas, but making consistent improvements. Hopefully some of these things will help you in your own work.

1. Have a Task List for the Day

The best way to have an unproductive day is to work throughout the day without a clear definition of what you need to accomplish. Simply having a to-do list will go a long way in keeping you on track. There is usually a million different things that you could be doing on any given day. While all of these things may be helpful to your business in some way, they’re not all equal in terms of importance and urgency.

If you are working on a large project, break that down into several tasks. "Finish Project XXX" is not a task. List a sub-components of the project like "Acquire Domain Name for XXX" or "Research for Chapter 3".

Without a task list you run the risk of working all day on things that seem like they are benefiting your business, but in the end you’re not focusing your efforts on the right tasks.

At the end of every day, I make a new list for the next day. I write down five tasks that I must complete the following day in order of importance.

If you make your list the night before, your subconscious will have all night to think about it.

The moment you wake up, you’re on task. You already know what your goals for the day are. You’re focused, and by starting your day with this focus and this purpose that’s already laid out for you, it allows you to ignore the onslaught of distractions that come with each new morning.

You’ll find that if you don’t have your To-Do List waiting for you in the morning, that you’ll get side-tracked immediately. Life happens. It gets in the way.
And unless you take back that control and focus, it will prevent you from accomplishing anything. This is the deadly trap you must avoid at all costs that's preventing you from achieving the results you want.

My personal approach is a simple desk calendar. Some people use Outlook or even Word Pad, also known as NotePad or TextEdit for Mac users, it’s that little program that opens up to a blank white page and just stares at you with a blinking cursor at the top. I write down my top 5 things and cross them off as they are complete. If for some reason, an item is not finished, it just moves to the next day.

2. Prioritize Tasks

One of my biggest frustrations in my daily work is that it seems like I’m never able to do everything I want to do in a day. In this case, a task list is likely to have a few things left untouched at the end of the day. Because of this, it’s important to not only create a task list, but also to prioritize the items that you’re looking to get done.

Your tasks will differ from day-to-day, but it’s likely that you’ll have a few very important things that must get done, and then some others with varying levels of importance and urgency. As you cross off each item, you'll get a great sense of satisfaction and progress.

My personal approach with prioritizing is to simply to set the tasks that must get done. Unless there is something time-sensitive I always do the one I am dreading FIRST. That way it is done and out of the way and avoids procrastination. Then I also list a few stretch goals for the day.

If and when I get all of the most important items done for a particular day, at that point I can move on to the stretch goals, which usually carry less urgency than my main tasks. This way I don’t finish my work early and have nothing to do, and I also don’t have too much on my plate that causes adverse effects when I can’t get everything done.

3. Place More Emphasis on Finishing Tasks Rather than Starting New Ones

If you are like me, you will have a few different projects going on at all times. On top of that, each project may have several different tasks that need to be done, and you may even have some of your own personal projects that require time. With all of these things fighting for your attention at once, it’s tempting to dig in to new tasks before completing others. By doing this you’ll usually be costing yourself more time and effort later when it comes to finishing those tasks and projects.

In order to keep the income flowing, it’s critical that projects are getting finished. Being able to finish a project will create income and allow you to move on to another project. From my experience, when I’m struggling with too much to do, it’s best if I can devote time to tasks and projects that are near completion.

Being able to get things crossed off the list gives you a sense of accomplishment and helps to reduce stress and create a more productive environment.

4. Know the Strongest Times of Your Work Day

Some people work best early in the mornings, others prefer afternoons or evenings. Everyone has times of the day that are stronger than others in terms of focus and productivity. I hate getting up early, but I can literally jump into a mentally demanding task because I am more focused then. Some need a few hours to get things together and then can tackle the tougher tasks.

During the times when I struggle to concentrate I’ll clean out my email inbox, evaluate my overall process on current projects, or anything that requires time but not the highest amount of mental focus. With this approach I’m able to make productive use of my least productive times of the day, and that will save my best hours for more taxing activities like working on a website or writing articles. With the varied tasks of any home office professional, there are always plenty of things that need to get done that require different levels of intensity in terms of work and focus. If you can match your best times for work with the most intense tasks, and your least productive times with more routine tasks, you’ll get more out of your day.

5. Dress for work
Just because you can work naked or in jammies doesn’t mean you should. Any sort of casual clothing tells your subconcious that what you’re doing is also casual. What you wear at home is important and can help put you in a productive mindset. It’ll also help you follow work hours mentally.

6. Have a Specified Ending Time for Work
One of the biggest challenges that I face throughout the week is knowing when to end my work day. When you’re working for someone else it’s much easier to make a clear break, but working from home, there is always a temptation to keep working. I tend to "sneak in" a few things here and the throughout the night when I am home, just because I can. However, this has the effect of putting things off during the day that I know I could do at night.

With so many things to do and your income riding on getting things done, it seems like you will be more productive by working longer days. I found that I get the most done when I have something going on that forces me to end the day at a specific time.

With a set ending time it’s easier to get moving quickly and to get more productivity out of each hour, since they are limited. Without a set ending time I often find myself working with a little bit less efficiency since I feel like I have plenty of time. On those days I wind up with less time away from work and I often don’t seem to get that much more accomplished, even with the extra hours of work.

7. Bulk Process

With so many different things to do, it’s likely that your day is broken up into many small blocks of time for specific tasks. In order to achieve more efficiency and productivity, try to use larger blocks of time and get similar things done all at once (depending on the nature of your work this may or may not be possible).

For example, if you can avoid working with your email open you may be able to spend less time each day on email by checking in 2 or 3 times throughout the day and emptying your inbox each time. Checking email many times throughout the day may lead to more time than necessary. An example from my process is writing blog posts.

My preferred method of producing content for my blog is to have a specific day set aside where this is my only focus. I can finish one post and move right on to the next. I may have a list of ideas that I want to work on so I don’t waste time trying to decide before I start writing. With this approach I feel like I’m able to get more out of my time as opposed to writing a post here and there whenever I have time.

8. Track Your Time

You might be completely surprised to know exactly how you spend your time throughout a work week. Tracking your time can help you to find inefficiencies and ways to improve your productivity. Without knowing how your time is spent, it’s hard to know how you can improve the use of your time. I’m not suggesting that you need to track your time everyday, but if you do it for a few typical days you may be surprised at how easily you can identify some areas for improvement going forward. There are many resources online for tracking time

9. Recognize Your Distractions

One of the benefits of tracking your time is that it helps you to identify things or activities that may be distracting you in your work. Whether or not you are tracking your time at any giving point, one of the first steps to working productively is to recognize your distractions. Eliminating or controlling these distractions will lead to greater efficiency, but in order to do so you’ll first have to accurately recognize and understand specifically what challenges you have when it comes to working productively.

10. Have Realistic Expectations

Ambitious workers often feel the pressure to get more done than is humanly possible with a given amount of time. This can obviously lead to increased stress and pressure, not to mention a lower quality of work. Realistic expectations will allow you to be able to accomplish the things you set out to do with a day of good work.

The biggest part of having realistic expectations is the amount of work that you assign yourself for the day. Taking on too many projects at once and trying to juggle too many different tasks will result in a cluttered work day with unimpressive results. Resist the urge to try to get too much done, and focus more on doing your best work with what is currently on your plate. If you struggle in this area you may be able to increase your productivity by outsourcing some of your tasks.

Another way to deal with this is related to the Bulk Process step. Generically plan your day in segmants. Devote 30 mins to e-mail at a certain time etc. Allowing yourself a certain amount of time to work on a task with no distractions. Maybe devote 1.5 hours to a lower priority project. When time runs out, take a break and move on to the next task. Segmenting your day in this manner will keep you from feeling overwhelmed.

11. Plan Your Next Day at the End of Each

Part of this making your to-do for the next day but also reviewing what has been done and what needs to be done. By planning for the next day, I’m typically more aware of things and I can do a better job as opposed to waiting until the next morning to plan the day.

If I wait till the next morning I find that it takes me a few minutes to remember exactly where I was on certain items at the end of the last day, and I may overlook something that I would have remembered had I taken care of this the day before.

At the end of each day I can look at my to-do list for the day and quickly see where I stand on the items that I wanted and needed to get done. At that point, planning for the next day is a quick process and I know exactly where I need to start, without running the risk of forgetting things. Now I’ll waste no time the next day trying to figure out what I need to do.

12. Get Enough Sleep the Night Before

Sleep is an important part of a productive schedule. Each of us functions differently in this area, but personally I tend to notice it the most at the very beginning and end of the day. If I’m feeling well-rested I can be productive through these times. If not, I struggle to stay on task.

13. Eat Healthy

The food that you put into your body can have a big impact on your energy level and your feelings in general. I’m not going to go into detail here because I’m not that knowledgeable on the topic, but generally eating healthy foods will allow for better productivity.

14. Get Fresh Air
I often find that it helps just to take a few minutes for a walk or a drive to get some fresh air. I also go to the gym around 10 am just to break up the day. Sometimes working in a different environment and getting out of the house for a while can really lead to a boost in productivity. This is something that you can accomplish with just a few minutes of your time, but it may have a noticeable impact for the next few hours.

15. Work in a Comfortable Environment

Making your office a comfortable space is important in terms of increasing your productivity. What you do with the office isn’t really important, but it should be an area that allows you to focus on your work comfortably for long periods of time.

The Work at Home Mom's Ideal Business

The Stay-At-Home Mom:

It’s challenging enough to survive on two incomes in this day and age. When the difficult (and of course rewarding) decision is made to stay at home with your children, what can you do to fill the income void in your household?

Work from home mom multitasking

Your children are the most important things in the world to you. They deserve your full attention and you have gladly chosen to stay home and care for them. You know that you have made the right decision.

Your choice to be a stay at home mother has come with a price though. Careful budgeting alone cannot offset that missing second income. Yes, you and your husband are getting by and your family is enjoying quality time together, but you have sacrificed income and benefits to raise your children.

Depending on your profession, your financial sacrifice can be very significant after a few years. In Ann Crittenden's book The Price of Motherhood: Why the Most Important Job in the World is Still the Least Valued, she calculated that a couple that once earned over $80,000 annually could lose over $1 million dollars in lifetime earnings after they have a child and the woman leaves work and stays at home.

Your retirement is in jeopardy as well.

No matter what level your previous earnings were, there are long term consequences on your finances for the years spent raising children instead of earning a paycheck.
Aside from salary, you are not earning any pension benefits from an employer or medical insurance, both of which are quite valuable.

work from home career opportunityAnd few women when they decide to stay home consider that they will cease to accrue any social security benefits from the federal government. No income for you means that your benefit rating with social security is stagnating.

It's a shame that there has to be such a cost for you to stay at home with your children.

You certainly value your work as a mom. It's nice having time to nurture your children's education and interests. You even get to have fun, and you do not envy the scheduling hassles that working mothers face as they juggle job commitments and children's appointments.

You are not alone either. More women are deciding to leave the career track and stay at home with their children. There is a growing trend for families to decide to make it with only one person working outside the home. A report from the U.S. Census Bureau in 2001 showed that in 1998 59% of mothers with infants worked at a full time job, but that had dropped to 55% in 2000, only 2 years later. The appeal of actually being the one to raise your children is undeniable and more families are pursuing this important goal.

Being a stay at home mom has many positive points, but you still miss being able to
earn an income. You want to continue developing your skills and creativity. Maintaining your professional skills that you worked hard to get before motherhood nags at the back of your mind. You wish you had a way to transform your time into money without compromising your need to be at home.

You can enjoy the security of a second income again.

There is a revolution starting in our society. People are deciding that they don't want
to struggle through a traffic jam every day and spend 10 hours at an office away
from their families in order to live. It's time for you to start learning how
people are earning a comfortable living from their homes. You can start a home
based business, raise your children, and have a profitable professional existence
at the same time.

Bringing in a second income and avoiding childcare costs would be doubly profitable. Think of all the important things in your financial life that you won't have to put off anymore.

  • Taking nicer vacations

  • Getting that bigger house your growing family needs

  • Saving for retirement

  • Funding your children's college education

After starting your home based business you won't have to scrimp and save so much. Yes,you will still bargain hunt because it's smart and you're good at it, but you won't have to feel guilty about that occasional dinner out.

There is no arguing that the work you do as a mother is exceedingly valuable. Stay at home Mom SalaryThe salary research company Salary.com even attempted to calculate what a salary for a stay at home mother should be. After factoring in everything from childcare, transportation services, accounting, laundry, cooking, management, and much more, Salary.com came up with a figure of over $130,000 a year. This sounds like a lot but it was based on a 100 hour work week.

As nice as it is to know that your work as a mother is worth six figures, there is no salary fairy out there that is magically going to start writing you checks. You need to take action and earn money your own way. The way to do this is with your own home based business. As your own boss, you will be able to integrate earning an income into your other valuable and important duties.

With the income from your home based business, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of financial security. You won't have to worry so much if your husband loses his job. With your business income you could even give him the freedom to pursue a career change that he has been dreaming of.

Are you a stay-at-home Mom?

Maverick Money Makers Review

This opportunity is designed to assist those who wish to make money working from home. It is called a secret club and was started by online Multi-Millionaire Mack Michaels, who saw the need for information to help individuals who want to earn a good income from home. The system teaches individuals using a monthly membership forum about how to leverage other people’s products to make money and how to do so more effectively.

There are many different ways that you can earn money at home, but the most prevalent and easiest way is through affiliate marketing. This is nothing new, so what is different about the Maverick Money Makers, I wondered. I am not into the scam and the over emphasizing of something that is not. I want to bring you the truth. I did some research for “maverick money makers review,” and all I found was a bunch of affiliates trying to make money marketing this system.

I would be lying to you if I told you that I wasn’t doing the same, but I want to set myself apart from the rest by bringing the truth and nothing but the truth, whether it gets me a sale or not.

One of things that I know that is true is that people are really going through a rough times these days because of the economic downturn and it does not matter where you live in the world. It affects you in some way or the other.Maverick Money Makers promises that if you sign up in their secret monthly club that you will be guaranteed to earn $397 each day. I put them to the test.

However, since I am already an experienced marketer, I wanted to test it from scratch by not using any of the tools and resources I had available to me to see how easy it would be for someone just starting out. In fact, this is what they boast – starting from scratch.

What I liked about the Maverick Money Makers

The system teaches step by step actions on how to get started usingless time consuming methods and what to look out for. I loved the fact that Mack Michaels had the same values as I did and did not want to promote a program that made money only, but to really help people because he had been rock bottom and knew how it felt. Of course, his story is no different from most people during these financial times. He uses videos and audios to teach you the same techniques that he used to make money working from home and was able to quit his day job.

He covered many marketing techniques from quick and cheap to long-term, so you are able to move from one level to more advanced stages in your own timing. There is access to 24 hour support and online training. You will be able to work at your own pace and after two weeks in the program, I can guarantee that if you follow the steps you will be able to make at least $300 or more like I was able to do using only the training that Maverick Money Makers offers.

A word of caution to you:
If you are just a dreamer who is stuck on a learning roller coaster ride because you never do anything with valuable information, then I do suggest that you forget about MaverickMoney Makers. It is not for you. It is people who are in a situation of do or die and need to take action now – all they want are the steps of how to get going.

What I did not like about Maverick Money Makers

Mack Michaels was very talkative and spent a lot of time in the initial video talking about himself. This is a tactic however that you can borrow to show the benefits the system offers. Mack wants his audience to know where he had been and where he is now and how he got there. It can get annoying for those who like to jump in immediately.

The “money zone skills” Maverick Money Makers offers were for the most part, skills that you could find elsewhere online, but if you don’t know where to find them, you would be searching for a while. The system is targeted to new entrepreneurs. Seasoned marketers may find the skills old hat. For newbies, this would be a gold mine.

Maverick Money Makers is a monthly membership site so you are sharing the same information with other people and so there is competition within the secret club. What sets you apart from the competition is your determination to take action. There are people who won’t.

Conclusion

I highly recommend Maverick Money Makers to anyone who wants to make money from home on autopilot without need for a website or their own product. I loved the secret weapon that you won’t even find online that gives you access to a mob of hungry buyers who are waiting to give you their credit cards right away. If I had to give this program a rating between 1 and 10, I would give Maverick Money Makers a score of 9 out of 10. The system helps you to keep organized and focused. It is your desire to take action that is the variable here.

The online mentoring allows you to work out your own daily “things to do,” list by logging into your account and the system helps you to do just that and shows you what to do after each step. It is like having someone standing over you and telling you exactly what to do.

The monthly fee is $97 to join the club and for some people that may seem like an enormous amount of money during these tough times.

The only consolation I have is that you will only have to pay that amount out of your pocket for the first month because by the first two weeks, you will be making much more than $97 per day and will be able to put aside the $97 for the other months.

If you are not satisfied that you are making enough money after your first month, you always have the option to cancel at any time.

So if you are ready to take a chance on your destiny and want to learn how to make at least $397 per day within the next two weeks, go to the official website of Maverick Money Makers right now!
